How to Specify a Custom Wooden Watch Box
On this page

Start with our custom wooden watch and jewelry boxes, then use this guide to prepare the specification for the model you want.

A single-watch presentation box and a multi-watch storage case solve different problems. The first needs to present one item and fit its retail packing. The second needs a usable layout for repeated access, with enough room around every watch and inside the lid. Define the intended use before comparing photographs or prices. This guide uses the reference models in our catalogue; the final construction, fit and packing are agreed for your order.

1. Measure the watch and the usable interior

Outside box dimensions do not tell you how much space is available after the walls, lining, pillow and lid are fitted. Send measurements for the largest watch in the range, including the crown and protruding pushers. Measure it in the condition in which it will be packed: a closed bracelet, folded strap or open strap can need a different insert.

  • Watch-case width, length and thickness, including protruding parts
  • Strap or bracelet dimensions and the intended packed position
  • Pillow dimensions, firmness and removal method
  • Clearance above the watch with the lid closed
  • Space to lift the item without catching it on a divider or fitting

Approve usable interior dimensions separately from the outside measurements. Check the intended watch on the pre-production sample, including its clearance from the panel, catch, hinges and adjacent compartments. If several watch sizes will share one package, identify which sizes must fit the same pillow.

2. Choose a single-watch presentation format

The walnut veneer single-watch display box has a hinged lid and a 12 × 12 × 7.5 cm external reference size. The photographs include clear- and opaque-lid versions. Specify which lid you need. The black walnut single-watch gift box is a different design: its lid lifts off, and its supplied reference size is 9 × 9 × 8 cm. Neither set of outside dimensions establishes the usable watch space.

For a lacquered presentation, compare the single piano lacquer watch box with a key lock with the black single-watch presentation box. The first reference is MDF with wood veneer and piano lacquer; the second has a glossy black appearance and an inner-lid pocket, with its core and coating to be confirmed. Similar-looking finishes do not establish identical materials, hardware or contents.

3. Select a multi-watch layout or a jewelry drawer

The black wooden watch display box series includes three-, six- and twelve-watch references. Choose the layout before requesting a size or quote. Slot count alone is insufficient: compare the pillow width, distance between watches, lid clearance and access to the rear row. Supply the watch measurements for each position if the contents vary.

A wooden watch box with a jewelry drawer combines top-level watch storage with lower compartments. The six- and twelve-watch versions shown have different drawer arrangements. Specify the watch count, ring-roll position, divider layout and required opening space together. Confirm how the drawer is restrained in its shipping pack; the lid clasp does not describe the drawer packing. For a layout that needs removable partitions, compare the removable-divider design guide and confirm that construction for your chosen model.

4. Treat eyewear as a separate fit requirement

An eyewear compartment is a different shape from a watch-pillow slot. Our six-slot wooden sunglasses box is illustrated at 35 × 20 × 7.5 cm externally, with a 16 × 5.5 cm compartment footprint. Check the folded frames, temples, bridge height and removal space against the usable interior. These reference measurements do not guarantee that every frame style will fit.

5. Specify the core, surface, panel and lining separately

A wood-grain photograph cannot establish whether the case is solid wood, veneered board or another construction. The wood material guide can help prepare your questions, but the selected model still needs a written specification. Record the core, visible veneer or surface, finish and interior as separate items. For the clear lid, confirm whether the quoted panel is glass or acrylic rather than assuming from the photograph.

For the lining, agree the actual material, colour, attachment and contact surfaces. The wooden box insert guide explains questions to ask about inserts and coverings. A soft appearance alone does not establish scratch resistance, colourfastness or suitability for a particular watch finish. Compare the sample with the intended contents and define any tests or acceptance criteria required by your project.

6. Agree the opening, branding and packing

Choose a hinged, lift-off or drawer opening by how the user will access the contents. A hinge does not automatically include a soft-close mechanism, and a key lock does not establish security performance. If the watch supplier specifies restrictions on magnetic catches or other components, include those restrictions in the brief and agree the hardware before sampling.

Send the logo artwork, size and proposed position. The custom wooden gift-box sourcing guide explains how to brief branding, inserts and packing together. Confirm the logo method on the selected surface and finished sample. Include any individual wrapping, retail sleeve, carton, label and export pack in the quote. Watches, eyewear and jewelry in the reference photographs are display props unless the order specification expressly includes them.

7. Request a quote against one complete specification

OEM and ODM production MOQ is 200 pieces per design. Sampling is a separate approval stage, with its own scope, cost and timing. Production timing is confirmed against the specification, quantity, finish and packing requirements. For an initial price discussion, send your reference model and project requirements; identify any decisions that are still open so they can be quoted clearly.

  • Reference model, chosen capacity and intended contents
  • Outside dimensions, usable interior and fit requirements
  • Core, surface, finish, panel, lining and hardware specification
  • Logo artwork, location and proposed application method
  • Production quantity, packing, destination and required delivery date
  • Documents or tests required for the specified materials and importing market

Compare supplier quotations against this same list, including what each price includes and what remains to be approved. Ask for documents that apply to the selected material, model and intended use. A report for a different box does not establish coverage for your order. Once the brief is ready, request a watch-box quotation by email or use WhatsApp for quick questions; both options are available on the contact page.
